Clinic 9/25

Today I passed off 3 PE's, I was happy to get them out of the way. The health history one was so long and took a while. My treatment record was 3 pages long, I hope I don't have too many patients who are like that.

Clinic 9/20

Today we practiced using our explorer on the dxxtrs and on a partner. Jamie was my partner and I hope I didn't hurt her too bad, she was a good sport. I'm starting to get the hang of exploring and fulcruming, but I still have a long way to go.

Clinic 9/18

We've been learning extra and intra oral exams. It's pretty simple unless you find something outside of normal limits; then you have to measure and document and it can get complicated. I am also having a hard time charting everything. It's stupid to chart everyday that there have been no changes since two days ago and then to go get a signature. I know it's teaching us to get into the habit, but it gets old. Hopefully I'll be able to remember when I have a real patient, otherwise I won't get credit for them.

Today someone came from sheervision to show us the magnifying loops. They are amazing and I think they would make my job a lot easier but I don't know if I want to spend the money just yet. Maybe once I actually start seeing patients I'll find that they really would help, but we'll see.

Today we took eachothers blood pressure. I was horrible. I think Ashley about fainted because I had her circulation cut off for so long. But by the third person I think I was finally getting it. I'm not good or accurate, but at least I can hear a tap now.

We had a lot of extra time today so my pod passed off a couple of PE's. They really aren't that hard. So I feel good that I am staying ahead of schedule. But I am having a hard time keeping up with all of the reading.

The second day of clinic went well. I passed off my first 2 PE which were easier than I thought they'd be, especially because one of the TA's passed them off for me instead of Professor Costley, I don't know if I would have done as well if she was grading.

Today was the first day of clinic. I think I know what I'm doing so far, but we'll see if I still feel that way next week!
