Potty Training

Kire has had zero interest in potty training, but he'll be 3 in December so I started potty training 2 weeks ago.  It's going ok.  While we're home he'll wear underwear and I have to ask him every 30 minutes, but he'll go.  I made him a little chart and he gets really excited to put a sticker on it and he's almost earned himself a toy.  I put him in a pull up when we're out, but he doesn't ever want to go.  I don't know if I should expect anymore, but it seems to be going really slow.  Any advice?  Everything I've read says to start with boys sitting down, and he does ok, but I think he might do better and like it more if he were standing.  And he doesn't seem to want to go poop in the toilet.
Here he is putting a sticker on his chart.  His little bum does look super cute in underwear

Northridge Football is the other thing that has consumed our time.  Erik has done better this year by coming home earlier, so that's nice.  Kire waits up for him every night and goes downstairs and watches Super Friends while Erik watches film on the lap top.  It's good that they get to spend some time together, but then Kire ends up staying up until 12.
Kire loves Friday night games.  He runs down the grass hills and wrestles his friends and we see Erik at half time.  Northridge has done well this year, they just lost there first game in overtime to Layton on Friday.  It's nice to just hang out with Kire in the grass-then I don't have to hear all the parents yelling at Erik.  I almost got in a fight 2 years ago defending my man : )

ok so the potty training thing was a pain in the but, and I heard with boys it is harder but I found that if I put her potty seat on the big potty it went better, also treats after each time going potty of course. I also had the book poo poo in the potty with a real fluchy sound button and she loved it. Also I was stuck seriously in the house for like a week strait. Good Luck, and hang in there it is frustrating

Yes, this sounds just like Taylor. He sounds right on track. They say it's scary for kids to go poo in the potty. I bought a big train toy that he REALLY wanted, and put it on top of the toilet, and said, "If you go poo in the potty, then you can have the train." It took two days, and then he did it, and kept going after that. He did have a set back for a bit, but is great now, and it is so worth it. Hang in there. All about the positive reinforcement, and you sound like you are doing great with that. I'm trying to introduce Sophia, but she is only 19 mths, so I don't think she is quite ready.

Sounds like you're doing great with the potty training. It's a real pain, but stick with it. Sounds like he's on his way!

You are great for doing the potty training thing! I think you are doing pretty good, it takes a while for them to decide THEY want to do it. What worked for me was to get Blaise a Transformer costume and hang it up in the bathroom. Then when he would try to go poop he could wear the mask. He would have to put it back after he was done trying. He would try so much more using that idea! We did the sticker chart and all but getting the costume worked for sure. I think that it's good to start earlier because for boys it takes forever!

Bingham has been on and off on the potty training. I heard they have to be ready or it doesn't do any good. Maybe wait a few weeks and try it again. I also bought a potty watch that sings a song every 1/2 hr and they go and love it! We where pullup if we leave the house and undies at home. I am in that same place it is soooo hard!

The thing that worked for Hudson and made me not such a nag and yeller was the Potty Watch. You can get it online or at Kid to Kid, they sell them new there. THe kids love it because they feel big and you can set it to 30,60, or 90 min and then at that time it will play a song and then they know its time to try and go. Worked wonders for Hudson. He started out sitting but shortly after realized it was fun to stand like Daddy. Also put some cereal or something in the toilet to aim at. I know at kid to kid they have these target things that Hudson loved too. Good luck.
