I don't want the kids growing up thinking that Easter is about bunnies and candy, so we tried to teach the boys about Christ and the atonement yesterday.
We had a nice lesson and went to church.
Afterwards Kire helped me fill some eggs with candy, then the boys waited while Erik hid the Easter eggs. Maybe I'm a bit of a scrooge, but I don't like teaching the kids about the easter bunny, tooth fairy, santa or any other fictional character. I don't care if they talk about it at school or with friends, but they know that mom and dad are responsible for their gifts.
I got each of the kids 1 toy; Kire got a lego ninjago he's been dying for, and Jack got a Hexbug-a little robotic bug that wiggles around.
Kire scored 29 eggs.
FYI-don't buy the colored WASHABLE bubbles. They're awful and messy.

You're not a Scrooge... I'm the same way. I don't encourage my them to believe in the Easter Bunny and Santa, but I haven't come right out and told them there is no such thing. I just let them believe what they want and if they ever ask me I'll just explain that it's just for fun. It is fun to believe, but that's not what Easter and Christmas are REALLY about. I hate that they get so focused on Santa and the Easter Bunny and forget the REAL meanings behind Easter and Chistmas.
Your family looks really cute in your Easter Clothes (as always)!
Way to go Skye! I am the same way about the fictional characters! I love that you FIRST taught your kids about CHRIST! That's what Easter Sunday is all about - I totally commend you :) You look darling with the boys - your belly is so cute!
I'm the same way but someone has taught them it's the Easter Bunny this year. I'm not sure who. I'm very casual about it- but not blunt!
Cute Sunday outfits, you look good too. A hexbug- yay, so fun!
Looks like fun, Happy Easter!
1 - You kill me how crafty you are! I suck at that kind-of stuff.
2 - that last pic of Jack is priceless. Love it.
