Pictures!

On Saturday we had Jack's pictures taken. The gal was darling and she's posted a few pictures, and the rest will be done soon. I am so excited.

Then Sunday my sweet sister Julia came over to visit, she is so great with the kids.
She came over to find us all taking a nap together.

Kire has been just wonderful with Jack. He loves to snuggle him and kiss him. He hasn't been at all jealous yet. Erik has been great to take Kire and play with him when he gets home from work, and the weather was great last week so it was nice.

Jack Corbett Thompson

Kire can say that he named his baby brother.  We weren't really even considering Jack until Kire decided he needed to name his brother "Captain Jack" after seeing pirates of the Caribbean; but the name grew on us.  Corbett is a family name on Erik's side, his mom's brother passed away and was named Corbett.

Here is Jack in his new sling, I think I am really going to enjoy it.

He has a lot of dark hair & more of an olive complexion like me, I wonder what color his eye's will be?

This is Kire when he was born.  Jack is definitely darker, and has a smaller nose, but I think they look a lot alike.

I had forgotten how small newborns are, they are so wonderful.  I am sore and tired, but am feeling much better than my birth with Kire.  Erik has been so wonderful and has just played with Kire the past 2 days, I don't know how I'll do when he goes back to work tomorrow.  But Kire has been great. He gets mad at Erik if he talks too loud and tells him to be quiet so he doesn't wake the baby.  He loves to lay by us and touch Jack and says " he's so cute & sweet."

Baby "Jack"

7 lbs 15 oz 21 1/2 inches

Kire was so excited for his baby brother.  He wanted to see his fingers and toes and immediatley asked to see my belly to make sure he had really come from there.  I also had to explain breast-feeding to him, which was interesting.

My blood pressure had been high since last Thursday and when I went to my doc yesterday it was still high, so she sent me to the hospital to get started.  It was a long day, we started the drugs at about 11 am, but once she broke my water at around 7, I progressed fast.  My nurse came into check me and I was dilated to a 7 and when my doctor came in 30 minutes later she said we were ready to go.  Erik quickly called my mom, who was down the hall with Kire; she ran and barely made it into the room in time.  He called his parents too, but it was all over within 10 minutes!  I only had to push a couple of times and he was out.

So we have a beautiful, healthy baby boy, but still haven't quite decided on a name.  We're still leaning toward Jack.  More pictures to come!

Grady's Wedding

Yesterday my brother Grady was married to Lauren in the Logan temple. It was a beautiful day. They had their reception at The Point in Salt Lake and we had so much fun. They had a ring ceremony and Kire was the ring bearer, then they didn't have a formal line. There was just music and dancing, so it was really laid back and everyone had a good time.

Lauren & Grady exchanging rings

On Friday I went to the dr. and my blood-pressure was way high, so technically I'm on bed rest.  I'm going in again on Monday and if it's still high they may have to induce me early, which I wouldn't mind.  If everything looks good, I guess she'll start me on the 20th like we have planned.

White trash mom

So today I ran a few errands then took Kire to the library. It was lunch time & Kire wanted rice and beans, so I pulled into the drive-through at Beto's. I was behind 2 cars and had 2 cars behind me when Kire decided he had to go potty. I waited for a little while, but the line wasn't moving so I got Kire out of his seat and pulled him up front with me. I had an empty water bottle in the front seat and I let him pee in it. I pray no one saw me-how embarrassing, but no accidents!

Snow Day

It snowed all day yesterday.  It was so bad that I had to go pick up Erik from work because his car wouldn't make it home.  When we pulled into our driveway our wonderful neighbor Aaron Bell was snow-blowing our drive.  We still haven't gotten a snow-blower, and usually we are fine with out one, but yesterday we got like 18 in.  All of our neighbors have been so wonderful to help us out this winter.  Erik went out to help shovel and he and Kire spent the next couple of hours at the neighbors building a fort.

I should've taken a picture of Erik who had worn shorts to work.

Happy Valentine's Day

My husband was very thoughtful this valentine's day.  Usually he doesn't suprise me with gifts on holidays, but he suprised me with flowers and an ipod!  I've been wanting a new ipod and mentioned to him a while ago that he could get me one for my birthday.  Well this is going to be great because I can put a movie on it and Kire can use it in the car.  First I need to figure out how to do that.  Is anyone savvy with itunes?
I got Erik some swimming goggles for this triathalon he's training for and me and Kire made him this cheesy card.

6 weeks

I find the time going by so slowly waiting for this new baby, I can't wait for him to get here.  But I really need to enjoy my freedom.  I forget how much work a new baby is.  I am trying to make the most of everyday with Kire, because pretty soon my time will be split and he won't get as much of my attention.  But he seems really excited for the new baby.  We go in the nursery and read books.  He hugs my belly and likes to rub lotion on it.  He gets worried sometimes and asks me, "how is the baby gonna get out, is he going to break your belly?"  That's a logical question.  I just tell him not to worry.
It's really fun to watch my belly move, and his movements are so strong now-sometimes it's painful.  And I can't sit up and I can't sleep.  I know God makes women forget the bad parts of pregnancy and labor and newborns, otherwise we wouldn't have more.  But most of it is wonderful-but still can't wait to be done.

Oldies

Ok, sometimes I really hate old people. Today I got up at 6 and worked till noon then me & Kire went to the mall.  I was tired but my mom called me and told me Dillards was having their big sale.  So I'm driving around the parking lot and cannot find a spot anywhere.  Finally I see someone getting in their car, so I pull behind them and wait.  I have my blinker on, and right as they are pulling out, this old couple goes right around me and pulled into the spot.  I honked several times but they didn't even look back.  If they weren't taking so long to get out of their car I would have waited behind them and given them a piece of my mind, but I had already wasted 5 minutes waiting for the damned spot.   I was so pissed I almost just left, but I finally just parked at the bank across the street and hauled Kire in the stroller through the rain and potholes-I hope they enjoyed their parking spot!  Just because you're old doesn't give you the right to be oblivious and to be crappy drivers!  Well I found 2 pairs of fabulous shoes for 70% off, so that made up for it a little bit.  I also got Kire some cute Hurley shirts for like $4.  I love dressing him like a punk.
I am a huge bargain shopper, I learned from my mom.  I shop at Bukoos & NPS and will seriously never buy anything unless it's on sale.  Yesterday I went to the Shade store in Centerville and they had a huge sale-almost everything was $5.  I spent $30 and got like 6 shirts.  I almost went back today, but figured I really don't need anything else, but it's so hard to pass up a good deal.  So if you see a good deal, let me know.

Name

I agree with Emily on the below post.  If I want to call him Jack, it should be the first name. And Erik isn't taking Hayden too well.  He is set on Kael.  So apparently no decision will be made until the birth of the baby.

Nursery

I didn't have to do much to the nursery since I made the bedding and curtain before Kire was born and we had already painted the room yellow. But I wanted to do a little something, so I had Erik & my brother Trevor add the floor board to the middle of the wall then I put up this wallpaper that looks like bead-board, so easy. I think it turned out really cute.

Now I need to figure out what to put above the crib. Any ideas? I could do his name, or if there's a cute boy/baby quote you've heard of, let me know.

I went to the doc yesterday and the buggers already 4 1/2 lbs. So she told me she'd start me by the 20th of March if I haven't had him already, but I hope I don't go that long. Kire was 8.9 and it would be nice if this one was a little smaller.
And I've decided his name is Hayden Jack and we'll call him Jack. Erik doesn't know this yet, he's still set on Kael. What do you think? Hayden has been my favorite from the start, but ever since Kire got it in his mind that the baby's name is Jack, it has kind of grown on me. And I think it's cute that Jack can say his brother named him.

Birthday wish

My birthday's in March, 2 days after my brother Grady's wedding, so here's a few things I want so everyone can get prepared-no excuses.
They are really for the baby, I have most of what I need, but there are a few things that have come out since Kire was born, or that I just didn't buy last time, that would be so nice.  I will probably end up buying them for myself, but here's a few ideas (hint, hint, Erik).

Baby sling from etsy here
Or if you have bought one and know another site to look at, let me know.

And I think this Sit n stand from baby trend would be the perfect stroller to have with an infant and a toddler.  Does anyone have another suggestion?  At Walmart for $119 or if you see a good deal, keep me posted.

I would also like to invest in a breast pump.  I want to breast feed but also want some freedom when I go out or on days I have to work.  I had a manual one for Kire, but I'd really like a nice one this time around.  I've seen them on ebay, but I don't know if a dare buy one used, but I should still be able to get a good deal on one that's new.  The Medela Pump in Style seems to be the most popular, any advice?

I'm sure I'll think of a few more things I "need" but this gives my family a few ideas ; )

Kire's 3 year Checkup

Kire went to the dr. yesterday for his 3 year check up.  I haven't been thrilled with the pediatrition I've been seeing so we tried out another one and she was really nice.  They started the appt. by taking his blood-pressure, which was exciting because he sees me do it at my doctor and he thought it was fun.  Then they weighed him, 32 lbs, and took his height, a little over 3 ft. So he's average, a little on the short side which didn't make Erik happy.  Then they checked his eyes.  He had to stand back and look at a board like I do at my exams, only instead of letters there were shapes he had to name.  I was very proud of him when the nurse pointed to a plus sign and he said "t" and he said "o" when she pointed to a circle.  We've been working on his letters so I was glad he remembered.  Erik and I both have poor vision, so I'm glad he's doing ok so far.  And everything else looked good too.

Another Poll

We are having a hard time coming up with names.  There are a few posted to the side, so let us know what  you think.

Jack is back

If we do name our baby Jack, it will be after Jack Bauer-because he is a bad-ass.
If you are not watching 24 yet, you need to start.

Countdown

Well only about 10 weeks left!  March still seems forever away, but I know it will go by fast. We still are not sure what we are going to name the little guy, but Kire wants to name him Jack.   I asked him if he liked Kael or Hayden and he said, "no Jack only."  I think he got the name from Captain Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Carribean.  So we've been calling him Jack.  Kire has been doing better lately with the idea of a baby brother.  Today we went to the doctor and he saw the ultrasound and asked when the baby was coming out.
I think 3 years is pretty good timing between the 2 of them.  I would have liked them to be closer, just so they could go to the same school and play with each other better; but this is probably better for me.  Kire is pretty much potty-trained, except when he's too busy playing that he won't stop to go potty.  And he's just starting to not let me snuggle him.  I'll pull him close and he'll say, "don't cuddle my bum mom."  So that makes me sad, but I'll have another one here soon enough to smother.

Christmas!

We had a great christmas.  Kire really enjoyed it this year and understood so it made christmas morning exciting.  Santa brought him a knight's castle and he and dad both got light-sabers so they can fight.

Kire is Aniken, the good guy, and dad is darth vador, the bad guy.
We've enjoyed spending time with family playing rock band and watching football, but I'm ready for things to calm down and get back to normal; also I will be going on a diet-I hate the holidays, there's always too much good food!

Kire has been spending some good time with dad since he's been off of work for the week; and I picked up a few extra days so have been working all week.  It's hard to be gone all day, but I'm glad the two of them get some time together.  Yesterday they went to the treehouse and today they went to the Body Worlds exhibit in SLC.  I was worried it might scare him, but Kire loved  seeing the bodies and he got to see what the baby in my belly looks like.

Decorating cookies

We've been doing a lot of fun things for Christmas. Yesterday we made sugar cookies and then went and saw the lights at the Layton Park. We were planning on going to the zoo, but it snowed all day and we didn't want to drive to salt lake.

Then today we had our ward Christmas party and Kire saw Santa. He didn't care for him and he said he didn't want Santa to come to his house and take his toys; I think he's little confused about who Santa is.

New Job!

The office manager, Megan, at the office I work at just quit last week because she got better job opportunity. I really like her so I was sad to see her go.  I told her if there was ever an opening at her office to let me know.  Right now I am working for this great dentist in Clinton.  I work every Tuesday and then pick up extra days here and there.  i have been looking for one other day somewhere else so I have a guaranteed 2 days a week.  This morning Megan called and her office needs someone for Saturdays 7-12.  It is going to be so perfect, especially once I have the baby.  I have been worried about what to do with a new baby, I hate to send him to daycare.  Well now Erik will be able to watch the kids on Saturday.  I still may have to put the baby in daycare once a week if i can't find family or a neighbor to watch him, but one day isn't too bad.  At this office I will be doing double hygiene, seeing more patients, and they have  different computer system so I'm a little nervous, but also excited.  And I think they also pay more and do bonus's, so that's also exciting.

gingerbread house

Me and Kire made this lovely gingerbread house yesterday.  I did the frosting and Kire put all of the candy on it.  It looks and smells delicious, but it doesn't taste good at all.  Does anyone have a good gingerbread recipe?

San Diego

On Wednesday we flew to San Diego for a little get-away. We didn't do a vacation this year and Erik just finished up football so we were due for one. We got buddy passes from a friend and used our time-share so it ended up being super cheap.
We spent one whole day at Sea World. It was fun and there was no one there. We went to most of the shows, but Kire's favorite things were the sting ray & star fish pools where he could touch the animals. Kire & I about killed Erik when he made us sit in the "soak zone" during the dolphin show. He assured us that they couldn't splash that high. Well they brought out a whale and it just happened to soak our section. Me & Kire were pissed for the rest of the show, but it didn't take us too long to dry off.
We also spent a full day at the beach. We went to La Jolla & saw the seals, then to Coronado for the rest of the day. The water was too cold for me, but Kire & Erik were out there for at least an hour. Kire also liked to chase the seagulls & dig in the sand.
Then we ate some good food and went to Balboa park and did some shopping. It was just nice to be together and relax.

Kire's 3rd Birthday

We had a great time at Kire's birthday party.  He's into Pirates now so I made these cute invitations (see below) and attempted to make a cake in the shape of a boat.  Well the cake fell apart so I had to run to the grocery store to buy one, but I still put the sails, treasure chest and coins on it so it kind of looked like a ship.

The kids had fun.  They each put on tattoos and made their own hook out of a cup and candy-cane & we played a game to see how many pretzels they could hook.  Then we had a pinata, which they kids took turns hitting, but Erik finally had to beat it with a bat to break it.

Kire got tons of fun toys.  We got him a pirate ship and he got a doctor set, train, gun and some legos.  Me and Erik joked that we were going to hide some of them and give them to him for Christmas, but he ended up opening all of them.
