Motorcycle

So my son is still a freak with his chapsticks, and his collection is growing. I do not know why he has this obsession, I let him bring a toy in the car and he chooses to put all his chapsticks in a cup and drags them around with us everywhere.
And this is him riding his "Motorcycle" and if you look in his left hand, yes he is holding one of my lip glosses.


Also, yesterday while I was making dinner he decided to get the syrup out of the cupboard and poor it into an empty dimatapp bottle and drink it like water. And I'm a bad mom and let him do it because he was happy.

I'm Exhausted!

I have had the suckiest luck with my mockboards in school. I took my 3rd mockboard today, to prepare me for the clinical board exam I am going to be taking in 3 weeks, and I failed all 3! My board patient was supposed to come in today to be my pt. for my mockboard too, but he got "sick." So he was going to send his brother in his place, but he ended up sending a friend. So I am glad someone showed up, but this guy had never been to the dentist and had horrible periodontal disease (class 4). He had enough calculus so he qualified, but his probe depths were kind of deep. I missed 5 spots and failed, but he was hard and so I can't beat myself up too bad about it. I just hope my guy will show up on the day of the real board, or I will kill him.

Kire has OCD

Kire has been carrying around chap sticks with him for the past 2 weeks. Don't ask me why. He puts them in his pockets, takes them with him to bed; he opens them every once in a while and puts them on his lips. This morning I found him lining up his stash on my bed.

I love my brothers.

FREEDOM!!!

I am so releived. Today I took my written board exam from 8-4, kill me. I just pray I passed, but I won't find out for 2 months. I think I did ok. I feel that even if I had studied more, I probably would have still missed the same questions, so I can't beat myself up too bad. It's like the questions were either simple and I new the answer right away, or they were something I had never even heard of. I have to pass with a 75% and the success rate is like 95% so I think my odds are pretty good.
I was not even nervous for this day, I was excited, because now I have my life back. I don't have to spend every free moment with a review book in my hands.
I think I am going to have to read the Twilight series again.

Happy Easter!

I took Kire and got his pictures done yesterday, isn't his pimp suit awesome. I found the whole 4 piece suit as Ross for $20 so I couldn't resist. The pictures turned out so cute! He has some vintage suitcases in a couple of them and we did a sepia tone and they are darling.
Then this morning we had a little easer egg hunt. Kire had to open each egg after he found it, so it took a little while. I wish the snow was gone and our grass was a little greener, but it was still fun. I found candy grass for the bottom of his basket, I was excited about that.

Board Patient!!!

Today I found 2 possible board patients. I screened Cesar and 1 quad will qualify for boards and so while I was taking x-rays on him another pt. showed up, Adrian. So I had Shaniel screen him for me while I finished up with Cesar and Adrian qualified too! He has a couple of quads that may qualify so 2 people could use him! So I have a pt. and a back up hopefully. I need to get both guys back and get 2nd opinions to make sure they have enough calculus but I am just so relieved!

Yesterday I had a funny patient at the VA. My friend Holly had seen him last week and he growled at her and told her he was a panther, so I did not want to see him. But I ended up seeing him and he was super nice and friendly so I went ahead and started cleaning his teeth and out of the blue he roared at me! I just ignored it and tried to sit back away from him a little bit, but the rest of his treatment went fine. Some of these guys have serious mental problems, so you never know what you're going to get, but I haven't had any real problems so far. So I got 2 quads of a 3 and a 5 yesterday. I still need 4 quads of a 4, but I think I have everything else that I need scheduled. So I'm feeling pretty confident about graduating after today!

Higinio

This morning my pt. didn't show up, which might have been a good thing. She had diabetes and high blood pressure so she might not even have been able to be treated. But another pt. someone had scheduled showed up so I was able to see her and she was 4 quads of a 3.
Then this afternoon I had this new patient scheduled, Higinio, hadn't been in for a while so I was sure he would be my board patient-1B. He had great teeth! So I cleaned him. So although I did not find a board, I feel like I got a lot accomplished. I only have a few more quads to clean until I am finished with my requirements.


So in more exciting news, the Bachelor was on last night! I really like him, he's brittish and kind of nerdy, but super sexy. I hate it when there is some cocky meat-head on the show who thinks he's bad.

Praise the Lord

Today I took my Local anesthesia board exam. It was more laid back and less tense than I expected so I am grateful for that. The examiners were easy going and made me feel less nervous and anxious. The test was easier than I had expected, but there were still a few questions I didn't know. Then I had Erik come in for the clinical part of the exam-to be my patient and get shots.
I didn't think I passed the clinical part. First, I made osseous contact on the IA ( I hit bone, for all you lay folk) so I had to redirect the needle, then I got a + aspiration (blood in the needle meaning I was inside of a vessel). So I had to withdraw, get a new syringe, reinsert, hit osseous, redirect and finally deposit. THen the PSA went smoothly, which was the one I had worried about. I thought I had handled myself well, but wasn't sure if the examiners could tell I knew what I was doing; or just thought I was fishing around Erik's cheek. But I tricked them and I passed.


So today I will relax, then tomorrow I will start studying again for the written exam that's in a week and a half. Then after that I should be able to calm down a bit (assuming I find a board patient).

Redemption

So my husband tried to redeem himself by bringing home a card and flowers. I appreciate the thought and maybe now he won't forget special occasions again (ya right).

happy 25th

We went to st. george this weekend. Erik was coaching baseball and sunday was my birthday so we decided to make a little trip of it. The weather was beautiful and on sunday we even got to spend some time in the pool. The one downside, my husband didn't get me anything for my birthday, not even a card. I had told him that I had gotten myself a few things (because he has horrible taste and is not allowed to buy me clothes), but this did not mean for him not to get me anything! Just a card and something thoughtful is all I ever ask of, is that too much? So I'm still kind of pissed off at him, but he doesn't know it. I buy my own christmas presents too. I guess I would rather like my presents than be disappointed, but I expect him to put in some effort.

Anyways. But it was nice to get away and take a break from studying. And I got a little sun and got to spend time with my family, even though I hate my husband right now.

Twilight

Apparently the cast of Twilight has been chosen. This is the picture. I'm not thrilled with most of what was chosen. It's ruining all of the beautiful faces I had pictured in my head. I had Edward pictures a lot more handsome and with lighter hair. And I pictured all of the Cullens being just gorgeous and most of these people just don't do them justice. But I am inspired to read the books again before the movie comes out.

Insomniac

I have had horrible luck with school lately. On Tuesday we had our mock anesthesia board, and I failed the PSA injection, but I did well on the IA and the written examination. Our board exam is 2 weeks from today so I just need to practice and I think I'll be ok. Then today and last Friday I scheduled people to examine and see if they would qualify for boards, but I have had no luck. I have found no one even close to qualifying. I got a couple of patients from another student and a new patient I need to schedule, so hopefully something will pan out. I still have 2 months to find someone, but I don't need 2 months of stress!!!
I've had to buy sleep aids to go to sleep at night because I clench up and stay up all night thinking about these stupid exams. My fellow students can appreciate this: last night I was up and just kept going over in my head the angles and terminology for the anesthesia exam, "at penetration site, at deposition site, aspirating..." So I have to take medication at night now so I can even fall asleep!
But my written exam is in 3 1/2 weeks and after that I think I'll be able to relax a little. But we don't even find out if we passed until June, so it will be hard to relax until then.
But I have a beautiful son who makes me laugh everyday, so I should count my blessings.

New Pictures of Kire

We just got a membership to the Treehouse Museum in Ogden and have gone a lot lately. It is so much fun. They do crafts and read stories. They have a toddler time and play games and sing songs and Kire loves it. It has been so nice since the weather has been so bad; it gives us something to do.

Prison Break

I am so sad, the season of Prison Break is over; so I'll have to find somewhere else to watch hot men, besides my husband of course. If anyone needs a reason to watch Prison Break, here's the only one you need, Wentworth Miller. Isn't he gorgeous (he was the one that should have been cast for Edward)! And yes, my husband knows. We have a little deal that if he meets Angelina Jolie he can do what he wants and if I ever meet Wentworth I can do what I want; and I won't describe what I would do to him. But I am happy that the writer strike is over cause there will finally be new Office episodes and hopefully 24 will start up soon! And I heart Simon. I would not watch American Idol if it weren't for him. For some reason I find him incredibly sexy. And his comments are so rediculous sometimes, but he makes the show.

Today I tried to screen some people to see if they would qualify for my board exam, but no luck. I don't know what I am going to do. My mom has this hispanic guy doing her basement, so I made her give him some flyers. And I also sent some with my mother-in-law to take with her to work, she teaches GED classes. So hopefully something will come up. Otherwise I will have thrown away $10,000 on school.

Mockboard #2

So in clinic on TUesday we had our 2nd mockboard; which is where we clean a patients teeth and get graded on it like we would when we take the real board test to get our license. The first one I failed last fall, but I picked a patient from Mexico who had never had her teeth cleaned, so she was tough. And this mockboard I chose a pt. whom I had just cleaned his teeth last year, but I don't think he had brushed his teeth since. I only missed 2 spots of calculus, but I traumatized the tissue in 3 spots so I got marked down for that :( Tissue heals, big deal! So I'm not feeling incredibly confident about this huge board exam coming up.

Today I went to WSU and we did this "Give kids a smile" service. A bunch of dentists from the community volunteer and poor kids from downtown ogden come to the clinic and we clean their teeth, take x-rays, and do any dental work they need. It was a really cool experience. There were tons of people and I got to assist a dentist; it was fun to do something besides clean teeth. It was also really sad because some of the kids had so much decay. We treated one little 8 yr old boy who's permanent molars, which he's only had 1-2 yrs were just completely bombed out. Some people just don't value oral hygiene. We gave all the kids toothbrushes and taught them how to use them, so hopefully they'll use them.

Oh and I learned about this cute website from my friend Casandra. It's cutestblogontheblock, and I have a link to it. But she has some free backgrounds you can use, or for a small fee she put my blog title and cute pictures up at the top. I'm just not good at all that Html so I would prefer to have someone else do it for me. Doesn't it look good:)

Juno

Juno

Me and Erik saw Juno last night and we laughed so hard. It was kindof artsy and weird like Napolean Dynamite and had so many classic one-liners. This clip has a lot of the funny lines in it, and I would highly recommend this!
Oh yes, I failed to mention that it has 2 of the same actors from my favorite discontinued sitcom Arrested Development. I swear I am the only person that ever watched this show but it was awesome. I just bought season 3 if anyone wants to borrow it. And of course Dwight is in it too.

Twilight

Some of you know I am a huge Twilight fan. I was on Stephenie Meyers website and the movie is in production right now and I'm not thrilled with who they cast as Edward. I don't know if anyone they cast would meet my expectations, but this guy just doesn't do it for me. Bella's character fits I think, but we'll just have to wait and see the movie when it comes out!

3 in a row

This morning I had my third no-show in a row. I must be a real crappy communicator or something. My pt. thought her appt was this afternoon, that's why I need to learn spanish. So she's having her husband come in and I'm just praying he will qualify as a mockboard, since I still do not have one for next week. So I have 3 pt's scheduled this afternoon and I'll be lucky if one actually shows up.

Friday Night Lights

There's a little show me and Erik love to watch called Friday Night Lights. It's about a football coach in Texas and his family and his name is Erik Taylor. So Erik likes it cause it's about a football team and I happen to enjoy the beautiful boys on the team. There's this guy named Tim Riggins who's always drinking beer and getting girls but he's just so charming. I always tell Erik to bring me home a Riggins if he's got one on his team. Anyhow, check it out, it's on Friday nights on NBC.

Do you know anyone with a yuck mouth?

Does anyone know someone with really nasty teeth? If so, please give them my phone number 628-8309. Seriously, I have to find a mock-board patient and they have to have a ton of crap on their teeth to qualify to be my patient, this is in 2 weeks mind you. Today, neither of my patients showed up. Luckily Russ, a classmate of mine, had an extra patient I was able to clean so I wasn't a complete waste of space. But my afternoon pt. who might have qualified for boards, didn't bother to show up either. So now I am left, with 2 weeks left, to find someone to qualify.

Snow Day

It snowed all day yesturday. It was such a pain to drive in, me and Erik both got stuck in our cul-de-sac because they never plow it and we got about 1 1/2 feet of snow. Finally this huge plow came and carried some of the snow out, but since our house is at the back of the cul-de-sac he pretty much just pushed snow into our front yard. It was so fun though. All of our neighbors came outside and we acted like we'd never seen snow before. It has been years since I've seen this much snow. It's too high to make a snowman but I think this afternoon we'll make a fort.

We finally went inside after being out for several hours and Kire was so cold. I took off his wet clothes and diaper and his weiner had disapeared. He was so worried and started to cry so I had to poke it out for him to show him it was still there. Then he kept saying "weiner hiding." But he warmed up shortly and I'm sure it is fine.

1st day Back

It wasn't as depressing to come back to school as I thought it would be. It is probably because I'm finally almost done and I only have to do this for 4 more months! Helen came in today and was my class 2 exam, so I'm on a roll. Now hopefully my afternoon pt. will come. This semester won't be as easy as I thought it would be. We only have one class but we have a bunch of projects to do so I just need to make time to study. All of these girls are talking about how they study every night, well I don't have time to study all of the time! So hopefully I'll pass boards.

Most Creative Costume

Christmas

I hope you all had a great Christmas. We did. Kire got a remote control dinosaur which he likes, but it also kind of scares him. We also got to talk to Trevor who's in Alabama on a mission and he is doing great. All of our family came into town too so it has been hectic and I need to stop eating.

We also decided to take away Kire's binkie during the Christmas break so we didn't have to torture anyone else (like the daycare). It hasn't gone great though. We are giving it to him when he goes to bed (night night) and he's not supposed to leave his room with it. So he ends up spending half of the day sitting on his bed because he doesn't want to leave it. So the other day we were sitting on his bed and I told him I was going to take a shower and to leave his binkie on his bed if he leaves he room. When I got out of the shower Kire was peaking around the corner with his binkie in his mouth and as soon as he saw me he pulled it out of his mouth and said, "binkie night night," and ran to his room and put his binkie on the bed. So at least he understands. But this week he has been really sick so I've let him have his binkie, so I'm afraid I'll have to start all over in a week.

Ugy snowman

It was Kire's birthday on Monday and he's really into cars so I made this sweet car cake with fireworks as the candles. I am competing with my sister in law Kalani (although she doesn't know it) but she always makes the cutest cakes, so this came close to hers I think. Then we got Kire this cool car he can drive (he hasn't quite figured out how to steer though).

It was pretty nice weather the other day so me and Kire went out and built a snowman. I couldn't find anything for the mouth so I used spray paint. Kire kept calling it "ugy snowman." It was kind of ugly. And now it has started to melt and is at a 45 degree angle, so it is really ugly! ugy.

Last day of clinic!

I can't believe I'm done, almost. This morning was a huge waste of time, like the last couple of weeks. I've been such a slacker. I did see albert back for a tissue eval. I put arestin in 2 pockets a few weeks ago and they already decreased by 1mm ea. So that was cool to see and I'll see him again in March. My other pt. cancelled and Inst. ALlen told me not to worry about finding another one, so that was nice of her. I went through my encounter forms and I think I'm all set for the semester! I am worried about anesthesia. I'm having Erik come in this afternoon to do the saliva test, and I was hoping to practice on him but apparently I'm not allowed to. I don't know why we can practice on eachother and not my willing husband. So hopefully I remember what I'm doing in Jan. when I come back.

Waste of Space

Well today I wasn't as big of a waste as I was last week in clinic. Last week my morning pt. didn't show and my afternoon pt.'s BP was so high I couldn't treat him, so I was the biggest waste of space ever. I didn't do anything for like 8 hours. But today I did a full mouth set of x-rays on a guy this morning and cleaned a 16 year olds teeth this afternoon. So I could have done more, but I have all of my requirements, so I'm not too worried about it. I'm so excited though, I only have 1 week left of school.
I'm only worried about my stats class. I need to get like an 80 on my next 2 tests to pass, so pray for me.

My blog sucks

If any of you have veiwed my blog lately you may have noticed that I have changed the template like everyday. I cannot find one that I like! Does anyone know a cool sight where I can find one. Kami I tried the sight you suggested, and it helped, I put on the nice music which I am very proud of, but I could not get a background to work. It would cover all of my posts. So I put a few of my favorite songs on. The new Killers cd is pretty good, I love song #4. I'm into that kind of rock right now. Like I love the new Matchbox 20 stuff too, it is so good.

This Thanksgiving was good. I made my mom take a few pics of the family and I made up a Christmas card, I think it turned out pretty cute. It's far enough away so you don't see too much of me.

Baby Contest

We entered Kire into the South Weber days baby contest and he won, of course. The theme was The Wizard of Oz and we dressed him up like a munchkin. He looked so cute!

Halloween

We had a great Halloween. Kire was a dragon so I decided Erik should be a knight (he wore the Northridge mascot gear) and I was a princess. We went to the dinosaur park, I thought Kire would love it, but he was scared. He wouldn't go near them, but I think he liked to look at them. Then we took him around trick-or-treating and he would eat each piece of candy on the way to the next house so when he got home he only had a few pieces in his bag. And he would blow out the candles in everyones jack-o-lanterns.

1st Mockboard

Well I just finished my mockboard pt. and they are checking her right now to see how well I did. I think I did ok, but of course I thought I did ok last week when I missed like 8 spots. I was more aggressive today because I know how her calculus is now, so right now I'm just praying I don't look like a dumbass.
So shit, I missed 8 spots, and failed. But it's ok. The instructor came over and was really nice and let me know she had such tenacious calculus and that it was a really good experience for me. I got everything else right, but missed 48 pts for calculus. So hopefully I'll get a better pt. and score next time!

son of a bitch

Today my mockboard pt. came in and I did a quad and missed like 8 spots and I knew I had missed them, I just couldn't get it off. It was the most son of a bitching tenacious calculus ever. It even took prof. Costley several strokes to get it off. So I'm kind of worried about mockboards, but at leaset I'll get a good experience, even if I fail.

VA Last Day!

I have really enjoyed the VA. It's so much more laid back and more like a real office would run. And I was kind of scared of prof. Bossemberger before, but she has been so easy going and really helpful. I have almost all of my requirements now, she has really helped me try to get them done. I am worried about next semester though when I have this new instructor, I've heard bad things about her. But it will be so nice to have Tuesdays off. I'll be able to work out and get things done without feeling so bad about being away from Kire. I'm feeling really good about the program and think I will enjoy the career.

Cancellations

My morning appt for Thursday cancelled the night before. She had a boob job a month earlier and her doctor doesn't want her to get her teeth cleaned for 3 months and then go on antibiotics before hand. I had never heard that before, but it's better to be safe I guess. So I tried to find a pt. but didn't have any luck. Alexander was my inst. in my pod for the first time so I'm afraid I didn't make a very good impression. But my afternoon pt. was this crazy guy Ken that I saw last semester too. He wears these tight red sweat pants and talks the whole time, but he's nice. He was my class 2 exam and I did really well, so hopefully that made up for my worthless morning. Also my peer pal Chelsea came and observed and Alexander would come over and watch me instrument and I would just think it was Chelsea until she gave me some pointers. It was helpful but then I got paranoid thinking she was always over my shoulder watching me.

I suck!

So this morning my SS class 3 came back and i did 2 quads. I declared an exam on them and missed like 8 spots! I've never missed 8 spots in my life, and of course it was on an exam. Then she had to leave early for another appt so I'm sure I still missed a few spots. I saved a quad to use as my mock board if I need to, but I'm hoping I will find a better candidate before then. She'll be hard, plus I haven't taken pa's of the quad.

No show

My first pt. today didn't show up which is upsetting. Last time she was in she was a class 2/3 so I really need her to come. She's spanish speaking, but hopefully I can get her to come in. Last year someone used her as a mockboard, so maybe she'll qualify again. Plus I've been sick, so I went to the dr. at lunch and I think I have a sinus infection, so basically I feel like crap. But good thing it's thursday and I have 3 days off!

Class 3!

Today I got my first class 3 at WSU. She was spanish speaking so I had a website up on my computer so I could type in what I wanted to tell her, and it would translate to spanish. Sometimes she understood what I was saying, but sometimes my spanish was too bad. But I was really proud of myself for trying. I just kept saying "bien" a lot, hoping that she was still doing ok, and she seemed to do fine, but it was stressful. I really would like to learn spanish, it would help me so much. Maybe I'll download a program onto my ipod.

San Diego Vacation

This summer we drove to San Diego and went to Sea World, a Padres game, Qualcom Stadium- of course Erik had to see his Chargers, and the beach. We had so much fun and Kire loved the sand.

VA! I am at the VA today and I am really enjoying it. It's so much faster paced and I think classification requirements are much more lenient. Today I saw 2 class 2's and both were easier than any I've seen at WSU. The pt.'s were so greatful to be seen. Last week in my first day in clinic I saw a class 5 and a 1b, so I'm hoping I fulfill a lot of my requirements here at the VA because I don't know how else I would finish them.

First Day

First day back! Today was the first day back after a long summer and I had to relearn everything, but it came back pretty quick. I called about 20 people today to set up appts and only got 1 so far, so I can see I'm going to have problems with that again. But the classwork doesn't look too bad. I start at the VA on Tuesday, so that will be an experience, but hopefully I'll pick everything up quickly and get some good experience!

Today is the last day of clinic, I can't believe it has gone by so fast. Today I am finishing my last quads of the class 3, so I think I am going to pass. I have like 80 quads done, so I'm sure I'll get an A as long as I finish this last PE and these last quads. It's going to be such a nice break to be done. I hope I still remember everything this fall.

Praise the Lord! I finally got a class 3. He was a class 3 in November, so I thought he would just be a class 5, but he had tons of plaque and calculus. So I finished 2 quads and scheduled him to come back next week on my last clinic day, so I pray he shows up. So now I don't have to try to schedule that flake that canceled on me twice. Well today is the orientation for the new students so that'll be fun. Only 1 and 1/2 weeks left!

Today I finished my class 2 and it took me just under an hour so I was happy with that. She was spanish speaking so it was hard to communicate and do the ohi, but lilly helped me. I need to get her something before the year is up to thank her for all of her help. So now I still need a class 3. I'm coming in on friday to help the seniors with their board pt's , so hopefully they might have an extra.

I am so sure. My pt. last wed cancelled, and now my pt. today cancelled, both of which might have been class 3's. I don't know what I am going to do. There are only5 clinic sessions left and I don't know if I'm going to get my class 3, so I am stressing out. My 2 pt's next week might be, but I have no idea. Hopefully.

I am so pissed. My pt. for this morning called me while I was on my way to clinic and canceled, and he canceled last time too. I wouldn't bother with him except he's been a class 3 in the past so he might qualify again, or he'll be a 5. I have someone scheduled on Monday who might qualify, if that's the case, I'm not going to bother with him again, but I am getting stressed. I have like 5o quads of a 1b, so if I just get this class 3 then I'll get an A for sure, but if I don't, then I won't pass class.

Today I was CA, so it was pretty low key. I have a pt. scheduled on Wednesday that has been a class 3 in the past, but I don't know what he'll qualify for. All I need is 4 quads of a class 3, so hopefully I'll get something out of him.
