Bink's dead

So a couple of months ago we got a little bunny for kire to replace his binkie. And today when I got home from work he was dead. I put his cage out last night so he could be outside and I forgot to bring him inside before I left for work and when I got home he was dead. I feel so bad. And Erik was home for a little while and a baby sitter was here with Kire but I guess no one went outside. He was only out in the sun for a couple of hours so hopefully he didn't suffer too much. The hardest part was trying to explain this to Kire. We went out back and Bink was just stiff and laying on his side so Kire just thought he had fallen down. I told him that Bink got sick and he died. He told me that we need to take him to the hospital and fix him and get him some bandaids and that we need to call Erik (he calls his dad by his first name half of the time). Then we went and played in the sandbox. A few minutes later he told me we need to get a new bink bunny rabbit, a white one. So I don't think he's too upset about it.
Has anyone else killed a pet so I don't fee so bad?

Breaking Dawn

Yes, I finished Breaking Dawn a couple of weeks ago. It was a little slow for me, I wished there was a little more action (especially more in the bedroom : ), but I thought it ended well for everyone. I was worried about Jacob, but he didn't get screwed like I thought he might. I won't say too much for those who haven't finished it, but I will say I HATE the name "Renesme."
And good news if you hadn't heard:
Twilight the movie is coming out November 21st now-3 weeks earlier! And there's a new trailer at www.twilightthemovie.com

Reigning Champ

Kire was crowned king of the south weber baby contest for the second year in a row today. The theme was 50's-and there aren't a lot of clothing options so Kire wore a white tee-shirt, jeans and some converse tennis shoes. I also picked up a little black comb and while he was walking across the stage he stopped and pulled the comb from his back pocket and combed his hair-so I'm pretty sure that won the judges over. BUt now I am supposed to take him and ride in a float at the south weber day parade next saturday-and I hate parades, so we may not make it.

The rest of the day I have spent reading Breaking Dawn. I can't put it down! Good thing I don't have to work till Tuesday.

Salt Lake marathon

Last week Erik ran his first (and only) marathon. He's been training for months and finished it in just over 4 hours! I am so proud of him, I'm lucky if I run 3; but I am so glad it's over. And he's excited because he beat his two friends who ran it with him. It took so much of his time so now I'm glad he can relax with me at night instead of going out and running for an hour. For the last few days he's been hobbling around like he's handicapped but he's feeling better now.

Bear Lake

This weekend we went to Bear Lake with some family and stayed in their beautiful cabin. When we got there, there were several cows in the backyard and Kire stayed outside and shot them for a while.

We played card games and pool and spent Saturday at the beach. We went tubing-here's a picture of me, Erik & my step dad Richard on the tube.

Kire's 1st Dental Appointment

Erik took Kire to come see the office I work at and to get his first cleaning. He did really good, and he wanted to help with everything. Then he assisted me while dad got his teeth cleaned too. They were so cute!

Family Reunion

We started out this weekend by going to the drive-in to see Kung fu panda again. I know it's super white-trash, but Kire loves it. Half way through the first movie our car battery died. It has never done that! So we had to get jumped by someone, but the night was still fun.

Then Friday morning Kire did a little 4th of July parade in Harrisville with his cousins. I pretty much hate parades, but the kids were cute and they snuck out of the parade early.

Then that afternoon we started the Thompson family reunion. And it is seriously like no other family get together. We started off Friday afternoon by carying a lit torch from Erik's grandparents' grave to a nearby park where we held flag ceremonies. Every family had to make and bring a flag and we did a legitimate ceremony where everyone made a tunnel and each family walked through with their flag (all done to music that they use during the Olympics). The night went on with different relays (such as running, horse races, throwing, and so on) and dancing.
The next day we went up Ogden canyon to a camp ground and had whiffle ball tournaments followed by gambling. And this is no ordinary gambling. Everyone starts with "$200." And there are different competitions and you have to bet who will win them. If they win, you add money to your tally, if they lose-you subtract. Some of the competitions included arm wrestling, seed spitting, trivia, and scooting on your butt the farthest. And then Sunday we had a little church service and more games and crafts.
It really is super fun. The games they come up with are hilarious; I'm going to have to integrate them into my family get-togethers because they can be quite dull.

happy 4th of july!

so i seriously love this job. i am so glad i went into hygiene because the hours and money are great and it's just fun to talk to all kinds of people. so i started working for this dentist in clinton and he is so laid back and all of the staff are young and cute and nice, i am going to love it. and he hired me for 1 day a week, but it's going to be 2 days a week for a while and hopefully they'll keep busy enough to keep it like that forever! then i've just been subbing at other offices a little bit and i'm still kind of looking for 1 more day so if any of my dh peeps here of anything, let me know.
this weekend we have the thompson olympics. when erik and i first got married i thought his family was kind of crazy, but they're awesome because they are so close and they just do all of these fun things that no other families do. so i am the arm-wrestling champ, so hopefully i will be able to defend my title. happy 4th to all!

new do

Tuesday I had my working interview and I got the job! It is this awesome office in Clinton; it is new and everything is digital and the doctor and staff are awesome. This is just for Tuesdays, so I would still like to find another day or two to work. Then yesterday me and Kire drove to Prove to visit Erik who has been doing a football camp at BYU all week. On our way down we had to stop at Ikea-love that store, and we went to the dinosaur museum at Thanksgiving point. It was really fun and Erik has been gone so much lately that it was good to spend some time together.
Well I have been thinking about chopping my hair for a long time and this morning I finally got up the nerve to do it. My friend Amber has always done my hair and I've always been afraid to go to anyone else, but my schedule has been so unpredictable lately that I haven't been able to get in and get my hair done. So this morning I just went to someone I've never been to in Provo before I lost my nerve and just had her chop it. I love it. I hate doing my hair and I have to have it back for work so it's going to be awesome.

Then I just ordered this Buzz costume online through the disney store. It was only $13 and it is so cool. Kire is into dressing up like a cowboy, dinosaur and anything else and i couldn't resist ordering. He is so dang cute I may have to look into getting more costumes. He has been running around saying "to finity and beyond!"

First day of work

I finally got my license on Saturday, I don't know why it took so long! But I was so glad it came because a Dr. that I know had called and wanted me to sub in his office this week. So I worked all day wed. and thurs. I was super nervous going in, but I kept up really well. I guess I was used to seeing like the worst patients imaginable, so the patients I saw there were so easy compared. The dr. and hygienist were so nice to me, but the front desk ladies seemed bothered with me. Obviously I didn't know how to do all of their billing and scheduling because every office is different; but they acted really bugged every time I asked a question-they were probably just bugged because it was my first day of work and I was making more than them ; ). And I have a working interview next week in this really great office, and the doctor I worked for is going golfing with that dr. tomorrow-so I think my chances are pretty good. But I've made some great connections and so I'm sure if anything opens up, or they ever need another sub, they'll call me.
Other than that we have just been hanging out. Me and Kire go swimming and to the treehouse and to the park, anything to keep him busy.

5 year mark

Well Erik and I have been married 5 years, and I have never regretted marrying him, that's pretty good I think. He still embarasses me and makes me laugh and pretty much lets me do whatever I want. He is a wonderful husband and father, I wish he would do more around the house, but I'm pretty sure every woman has that problem. This year he actually suprised me for our anniversary. We went out to eat and while we were out he secretly had my sister light candles and put out rose petals and flowers around our house. He had his friends do this on the night he proposed to me, so it was a really sweet and thoughtful gesture. He even remembered I had yellow daisies at our wedding and got me a bouquet.

So for the past 6 months I've been weening Kire off of his binky. He has been down to just bedtime and I thought he would just ween himself off of it, but he didn't. So I finally decided to take it for good. Then last week we went out to eat with our friends and Kire stayed at their house while we were out. They had a bunny and Kire loved it. I talked Erik into getting one for Kire as a substitute for his "bink." So I spent the week researching bunnies and found some on ksl.com. We got a darling little fuzzy lop bunny. It is the softest sweetest little thing and it will only get about 3 pounds. We named it "Bink" for Kire.

Hogle Zoo

Me and my friend Brittani decided to take our kids to the zoo today. It was perfect weather, 70, and the kids loved it!

I passed!

I am officially a hygienist! I just got my exam scores yesterday and I got 90 (which is way better than I expected) on my clinical exam. I cried and prayed the moment I opened the letter, it was just such a relief! I am so greatful to my family and my heavenly father because I could not have made it through these past 2 years with out them. And I go 88% on my written exam, so I am pretty proud of myself because I feel like I really didn't study as much as girls who don't have kids and to still do that good is quite an accomplishment (not to brag too much). So I can finally look for a job-although the break has been nice : ) but we need some money. So if anyone has connections or knows a dentist who's hiring, let me know!

What we've been up to

Working on the House

I've been doing so much work around the house, but still have tons to do. I'm kind of slowly updating each room. So first, we've put black shutters up and painted our door black. Then my mom gave us her old tramp and a neighbor gave us their old swingset (which will probably break if I sit on it) and Kire loves them both. And we've planted a garden.
Then my mom gave us her old table, and I painted the top red and stained it black to match my kitchen. And I had been looking for a picture of the SLC temple, where we were married in and finally found this one I love at Deseret Book.
Last summer I made curtains and textured our living room walls and just recently I got this cute little table at Real Deals (my friend Brittani owns it, they have the cutest stuff, so check it out it is in Layton off of freeway 193). And I'm in the process of painting the house cream. I finished the family room and kitchen, now I just need to finish the hallways. It really brightens the house up and feels warmer. I just love paint. It's a lot of work, but it's not very expensive and it adds a lot to your home. I want to get some cute vinyl so if anyone has any ideas or knows someone who does vinyl, PLEASE LET ME KNOW!
Then I just rearranged Kire's room a little bit. I wanted to get him a big bed, but since we're not pregnant yet I might as well make use of his crib for another year.
And our washer is leaking. We got them used when we got married, so they are probably about 10 years old. I've been wanting to get new ones sometime, but apparently we'll have to do that in the next week.
So next week I am going to finish painting the hall and I want to have someone do some bead-board in my kitchen, so if anyone knows anyone who does that, let me know. And I need to do something with my bedroom-any ideas?

I am a total Twilight stalker, I can't get enough of it. This trailer is so sexy, I can't wait till December!

Boards

I took my clinical board exam today on a patient I had never seen, and to stress me out more, he showed up a half hour late. BUt he qualified on my first submission, but I had to clean a quad + 3 teeth. I felt like I did a pretty good job, but the time went by so quickly I would have liked to recheck everything, but didn't have time. I just pray he passed, I do not want to have to go through this stressful situation ever again! The only thing that might fail me is tissue trauma; this guys gums were so inflamed and beat up. Now I just have to wait 2-4 weeks for my results, seriously, they examined him after I cleaned him, I don't know why it takes so long. I thought I would feel better after taking the test, but I still feel sick. I feel like I did my best and if I fail, then the examiners are bitches!
On a positive note, I just found out I passed my written 8 hour exam! Now I can get rid of all of my school crap.

Happy Graduation!

Today I graduated finally. The past 2 years have actually flown by, so I am so glad I decided to finish school. It was hard to leave Kire, but I know this career will offer him more opportunities and give us more financial freedom as a family. So thank you to everyone who helped me out, especially my wonderful husband, parents and in-laws-I couldn't have done it without you guys. And I will miss all of my friends from school-thank you to you guys who made going to school actually enjoyable : ) I will miss you guys, but we'll keep in touch!
I don't have a job lined up yet, but I'm hoping to find one where I can work 2 days a week. And although I graduated, I still won't get a license until I pass my boards next week. So this will give me a couple of weeks to just relax and enjoy the brake.

Thanks for the pictures Casandra, and if anyone else has some, send them to me please : )

I heart Edward

So last night was our graduation banquet. We celebrated our accomplishments with all 30 girls graduating and our faculty and families. It was really fun. We had a slide show so Erik got to see what I've been doing the last 2 years. The faculty gave out about 10 awards, but I'm not an over-achiever so I didn't win anything. I pretty much did just as much as I could to get by. But I am graduating with a 3.6 GPA so I am proud of that. But I did win the "I heart Edward Award." We all got a silly award and I talked all of my friends into reading Twilight and I'm obsessed with it.
Then we all got a gift, and last year the girls got rings, so I was pretty excited. BUt we got business card holders engraved with our name. What in the hell am I going to do with a business card holder? Seriously. BUt Erik went shopping with my mom yesterday to get me a graduation gift, so I hope I get something good.

Last day of clinic!

So today was my last day of clinic, and I was a total waste of space. I screened a guy this morning; his name was Bony, I just can't get over that. And he didn't qualify for boards. Then my board patient, Cesar, was supposed to come in this afternoon, but apparently he is in Mexico. Seriously, Mexico? He is supposed to come back this week, so hopefully he'll still come in and be my patient for my board exam. I do have a backup patient that I can use, but he is not as good as Cesar.
BUt I can't believe school is almost over. It is so surreal. One more day at the VA then I'm on my own. I don't know if I am prepared.
