Boutique this Thursday

My neighbor Kristi is having a boutique at her house Thursday the 1st from 6:30-8:30. If you know where I live, she's just 2 cul-de-sacs east of me. There will be lots of cute stuff and I'll be bringing watches, earings and some darling headbands I've been making.
Feel free to come by and bring friends.
Leave a comment if you need the address.

30 Rock

Last nights episode was awesome.

Danny: "I did an interview and they printed all this stuff that I didn't say. I never said that Liz banged her way to the middle or that Jena kidnapped a Swedish Au pair to use as a hair farm and I NEVER called Tracy clean and articulate."

Floyd: "Katelyn is a yogarobics instructor and ab model.."
Liz: "I was in a reenactment on America's Most Wanted once."

Jack: "Hello Frank. I think you know where I am. I happened to run into your mom and we came back here for some red wine. She's a lovely woman. I'll be leaving soon, I'm a gentleman, as is Danny."
Danny: "Hey Frank! Your mom's a hugger."
Jack: "Don't push me Frank, you won't enjoy the next video, your mom might though. And I believe Twofer and Lutz also have mothers. Do we understand each other?" (filmed from Frank's moms bedroom)
Frank: "Stand down pranksmen."

30 Rock

I've been slacking on my 30 Rock posts, but I've finally caught up on my recorded episodes.

Jack: "Lemon I'm not in the mood to solve your lady problems or listen to a story about whatever escapee from the island of misfit toys you're currently dating."
Liz: "This is a Liz-aster."
"Ok Lemon, what is it?"
"Ever since I was little..."
"Faster than that."
"My whole adult life..."
"No!"
"Oprah says..."
"You have 10 seconds."

Jack: "At one point my obituary was going to read "CEO of GE dies tragically in casino orgy."

Tracy: "She says I better have an affair and quick, before it tears our family apart."
Jena: "I wish I could help you, but I can't sleep with a black guy. I'd lose my endorsement deal with Nascar."

Tracy: "I can't have sex with you Liz Lemon, I love Angie too much!"
Liz: "Wow. Ok that was not going to happen for many reasons besides you loving you wife. Reason 1 I am conscious. Reason 2 you smell like Icy hot, Reason 3 ..."

f my life

Jack started crying today while he was playing with Kire so I immediately looked to kire for the problem. After coaxing him he admitted to biting Jack's finger. FML.
Kire hasn't really been jealous of Jack until lately, and he acts out by hurting him. I put him in time out, but I think I really just need to make sure he's getting enough attention; or maybe next time I'll just bite his finger and maybe he'd learn better.

The jealous turtle

My friend Teresa has a photography business called The Jealous Turtle, and she took Jack's pictures for me a couple of weeks ago and they turned out sooo cute. Here's a couple:

And today I took Jack for his year check-up. The dr. said he's in the 70th for height and 20th for weight, which didn't seem right to me because he still looks awfully chubby.
Then I took the boys to the dinosaur park because it was so nice outside and I'm afraid it won't last. Jack got to go down the slide and swing for the first time.

My monster is 1

Jack carries this stuffed bird around with him everywhere. He holds its wings and rubs it on his cheeks. Yesterday I decided to make him a monster doll he could carry around with him, since I hadn't gotten him any presents for his birthday. It turned out so cute. Kire wanted one too, so I made him one with the material scraps, but Kire says it's ugly and doesn't like it. I also made them each a t-shirt with a silly monster on it. And no, they are not for sale-they took me FOREVER.

We had family over tonight to celebrate. He got some cute presents, my favorite was this ball that freaked him out.

Jackie (I call him Jackie, even though when we named him I made Erik promise me we would not use this nick name, but it just fits) is such a delight.
He's a chubby, giggly little thing who points at everything and drags around this stuffed animal bird wherever he goes.
He smiles so big that you can't see his eyes and he drools down his face.
He loves Kire and follows him around everywhere he goes, even though Kire pushes him down.
He shakes his head no and thinks he knows what he wants.
He loves his dad and reaches for him whenever he sees him.

And no, I did not quite reach my goal to loose the baby weight by now, but I'm still working on it

Vegas

This weekend Erik had a clinic in Las Vegas so we decided to go with him and get out of this crummy weather. We stayed in The Hard Rock Hotel, which blew: it was loud, not kid friendly, and had to pay for wifi. The fridges were stocked with drinks, so we couldn't even use it. But me and the boys spent the days shopping, going to parks and most importantly, going to Yogurtland. I was introduced to Yogurtland last month in AZ-it has the best frozen yogurt flavors; my favorite: pistachio & coconut- mango.
On the way home we stayed a night in St. George at a Holiday Inn Express, which was fabulous with its fridge & pool and free wifi, and hiked Zions on Sunday. The kids did great, Kire made it all the way up the mountain on his own. We hiked Emerald pools, a beautiful hike and there was so much water, which was good and bad. There were lots of waterfalls, but there were a few places we had to walk through water.
I took the boys to the Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay. It was really fun. Jack pointed at everything & Kire got to touch a sting ray.
Erik & Kire peed off the side of the road.

The best part of the trip was on our ride home. Kire had this balloon animal someone made him at the park and I gave it to Jack to play with. Erik kept telling me to take it away from Jack because he was going to pop it and choke, and I kept telling him he was fine. Well it popped. Kire started crying because his balloon animal was gone and I turned around to find this.

I couldn't stop laughing.

Oscars

When I found out Alec Baldwin & Steve Martin were hosting the Oscars I set my DVD to record-they are 2 of my favorite people. I thought they did a great job, they didn't try to hard to be funny or take over the show.
My favorite part of the evening was when Tina Fey & Robert Downey Jr. presented:

RDJ: "It's a collaboration between handsome gifted people and sickly little mole people."

Up in the Air comes out today so I'll have to rent that and there are couple of other Oscar nominated films I've been wanting to see.

RDJ was on Kimmel later that night and was fabulous there as well:

Before RDJ came out, Kimmel had this sketch called The Handsome Mens Club. He had a bunch of really handsome actors and they all belonged to this club.
So my favorite part of this interview was Robert saying, "thanks for not inviting me to be in the handsome mens club."
Jimmy: "You're very handsome, don't let anyone tell you different."
Robert: "They don't, they don't."

Goodreads

My Omnivore's Dilemma has been pushed aside for a little while. I'm learning more about eating healthier, and really liking this book, but at night when I try to read it, it just puts me to sleep. So I had to heat things up with some sexy vampires
I just finished the first two books in The Vampire Diaries series. It's been on my to do list for a while but I've been trying not to read so much garbage. I've been watching The Vampire Diaries show on the CW, so the whole time I'm reading I can just picture these beautiful men and it makes me like their characters even more. So for anyone whose read them or seen the show, Damon can use his Powers on me anytime.

And now I've just started the second book in the Uglies series, Pretties. I'll get back to reading something educational eventually.

Winter blues

OH, I am so sick of Winter! I cannot wait for spring, but here's how we've been keeping busy:

Kire got those sweet skills from Erik.

Last week we met our friends at Kangaroo Zoo in N Salt Lake. They have a bunch of bouncy slides that both of the boys loved.

Week in Review

Today I took a car load of crap over to the church where they were doing a DI drive. I meandered around the trailer while I was dropping off my sacks and discovered a box full of DVD's, from which I stole 5. Among them were Hitch, The Proposal & Music & Lyrics.

Family news. Kire jumped off the couch today and started screaming. I told him that he was fine and to come over for dinner. Erik decided to check him for a sprained ankle, brought him a sack of ice & wrapped it in athletic tape.
Kire is a hypochondriac and Erik is an enabler

Jack is 11 months now and thinks he knows stuff. He's constantly shaking his head at me and throwing things. He's taken a few steps, but is content crawling through the house as fast as he can. He's constantly searching for Kire, even though Kire just pushes him down and pulls his toys away from him.

And my craft this week was button earrings. For a little tutorial go HERE.

Applique shirts

I bought some onesies on clearance from Carters a little while ago intending to make Jack some shirts, and I finally got around to it.
I drew pictures of what I wanted then traced them onto pellon (fusible interfacing), then ironed the pellon onto the back of my fabric and cut out the pattern. Then I ironed the fabric onto my shirts, then I sewed around all of the edges and added some buttons and the applique shirts are done!
I sewed some knee pads onto these pants.
I
I added the ear and button eye
I think Jack will wear this "J" for his birthday
Bird with button eye
And my favorite, skull & crossbones

Biggest Loser

In one of the offices I work at they are doing a 6 week long biggest loser contest. I signed up. My goal has been to lose all of my baby weight, 10 more pounds, by the time Jack turns 1, which happens to be in 6 weeks. I've been eating better (gag-all I really want are some Arby's curly fries), and doing my Jillian Michaels work out dvd's and I actually feel better. I look forward to Jack's naps so I can work out and can't wait for it to warm up so I can go walking outside.
So 2 pounds a week, that's doable.

Now 10 pounds is not my goal weight. I'm not even sure what my goal weight is. My body has changed since having kids. I used to be more of an hour glass shape, but I'm more of an apple right now. I've been losing weight, but it seems to be coming off of my boobs and limbs, not from my middle which is where I really need to lose it. I'm still not fitting into my pre-pregnancy clothes very well because of the extra weight in my middle. Sooo, I'm trying not to focus so much on a number, I just want my body to be healthy and firm and not hang over my pants.

February 5, 2010

30 Rock

Frank: "Dr. Oz did a show about junk food. I saw it because it's on a compilation dvd I have of fat ladies crying."

Jack: "Oh, new earrings."
Jena: "My mom just made them, so they still might have some pigeon mites. But she said those can't affect, affect humans, humans."

I loved the scene where Liz came into the room with her hidden video camera and a pile of cords and said: "as soon as I figure out which one of these things is the thingy." And then the office watches a video of her sleep eating.

And Parks & Recreation is really starting to grow on me. My favorite part of last night was DJ Roomba. Tom had an ipod strapped to a Roomba robot vacuum.

Spring wreath

I decided it was about time to take down my christmas wreath and found a tutorial for a cute one HERE. So this morning I headed to hobby lobby for a foam wreath and some burlap and put this together while Jack was napping. I think it turned out pretty cute, not as good as the demo, but cute.

Goodreads

I just finished Scott Westerfeld's Uglies. It was a good read and I plan to read the next 3 books but I'm taking break to read something adult and educational. The last several books I've read have been young adult fiction, which I love, but I feel like kind of a waste because I feel like I should be reading something spiritually uplifting or educational, so I'm going to start reading something like that in between my teenager novels.
This week on Oprah she had some clips from the documentary Food Inc and the author of The Omnivore's Dilemma. It made me want to learn more about our food industry, so I ordered the movie & book on Amazon (yes, I spend way too much money on Amazon). We watched it last night and I started the book. I also went to a healthy eating class taught by my sister in law, Kalani, last week. So between the movie & her class I am convinced to change the way my family eats and what food we buy.
I went to Good Earth and bought some 9 Grain, Quinoa, Almonds, Agave, Flax & Sesame seeds, and a few other things to try.
This weeks goal: whole grain breakfast and 2 servings of veggies a day for the fam.

I just found my garage door opener in the dryer. Erik SWORE to me he put it in my car, apparently he put it in his pocket. FML.

Girls Weekend

A few months ago flights went on sale to Phoenix for $50 each way. So my mom and sisters and I took a little weekend trip there and enjoyed some shopping and lovely 60 degree weather. I was born there and most of my extended family is still there in Mesa, so I love going back.
Of course we had to hit Last Chance ( 3 times). I am a HUGE bargain shopper, and I've never seen anything like Last Chance here in UT, so if you know of something like it let me know. It's all Nordstrom clothes, and they go there after they go to Nordstrom Rack. So I got a pair of New Balance shoes for $20, and pair of Seven Jeans for $30, a couple of cardigans for $5, seriously unreal prices. I need to go there every year and do all of my shopping.

We did a little hike, went out to eat, saw Leap Year, and visited with family. My family is so great, and I'm sad I don't live close to them. I often try to talk Erik into moving to Mesa, or at least St. George. I love the heat, and despise the cold. And I love seeing my cousins. I feel like I know everything that's going on still, because we keep up with blogging, but it would be so nice to have family close.
So thanks mom, Julia & Amy. We now have a new yearly tradition!

Jack's 10 months

This guy is my favorite. He's 10 months now and is moving everywhere. It is nice. I am finally able to get some things done because he can keep himself entertained.
And last night I cut about an inch off of his hair all around. I love his curly dark locks, but once a week he is mistaken for a girl, so I figured it was time for a cut.
And I don't know why I buy toys. The boys have been playing with an empty diaper box for the past couple of days.
Last week Kire had to get his first cavity fixed. I felt like the worst mom, mostly because I'm a hygienist so I felt like a huge hypocrite. But my boss did an awesome job and Kire didn't even feel the shot. The first of January we threw out all the crap in our house, so no more cavities and no more fatness.

30 Rock

This weeks 30 Rock gave me one more reason to love James Franco, and some fantastic lines.
Tracy: "Kenneth, your haircut is disrespectful to lesbians."

Liz: "Jack she has a name, we call her Skankovich."

Danny: "She has really thin lips, but she makes up for it with tongue girth."

This clip is one of my favorites of all time.

And I finally enjoyed an episode of Parks & Recreation. I've heard it was funny, but I had never really gotten into it. Maybe why I liked it so much last night though was because of Will Arnett.
